    A little botany ...

Guarana (Paullinia cupana) is a climbing plant of the Sapindáceas family and native to the Amazon . It flowers in a cluster and each fruit is a red capsule containing a single seed, small in size and surrounded by a red aril.

    Did you know ?

Guarana contains xanthins , such as caffeine, catechins, tannins, procyanidins, saponins, and other phytochemicals.

Xanthines are alkaloids that produce stimulating effects , that is, they act on the central nervous system, producing a series of alterations.

These properties are very interesting for people in phase of loss or weight control (diet) as well as for athletes because they improve their sports performance.

    Origin

Guarana plays an important role in the culture of Brazilian Tupi Guaraní. The name guaraná is a derivative of the word "wara'ná" which in tupí-guaraní means "fruit like the eyes of the people" . These tribes believe that the fruit is magical for the treatment of diseases of the intestines and a means of regaining strength. They also believe in the myth of the "divine child", who was killed by a serpent and his eyes gave life to this plant.
