    Himalayan salt is of marine origin and comes from fossil deposits left by the sea.

    The salt is hand mined from the heart of the Himalayan foothills, in the mines of Khewra, Pakistani Kashmir region. Coming from deposits, 500 and 1000 meters deep , this salt is perfectly protected from external pollution .

    The pink color comes from the high iron content, which oxidizes to make the salt pink / red.   Rich in potassium, magnesium, calcium, sodium, chloride, iron, copper, manganese, zinc, ... it is a complete, unrefined, unpolluted and nutritious salt which conveys the origin of terrestrial life.

    Origin

    It was with the retreat of the sea some 250 million years ago that Himalayan salt appeared. The formation of the Himalayan massif, which stretches across Pakistan, India, Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan, literally engulfed the Tethys Ocean which separated the Indo-Australian and Eurasian plates which s is found submerged about 600 meters below the earth's layer.

    Evaporation of the water revealed salt, minerals and trace elements which crystallized under geological pressure. Alexander the Great was the first, 350 years BC, to transport pink salt from Khewra to Europe where it was consumed by the greatest notables. He was called "the King of Salts".
